SPRAWL zero Difficulty: Martyr, Normal and What Changes

What is confirmed

  • Martyr is the hardest difficulty, named in MAETH’s demo patch notes (“especially for players selecting Martyr, our hardest difficulty”).
  • On Martyr, enemy damage is 200% (Under The Mayo’s review).
  • Normal exists, and the demo update made it “a tougher test of skill”.
  • Steam lists Adjustable Difficulty under accessibility.
  • The names of the other settings have not been published anywhere we can cite. One player could not remember “what normal was called”. Until someone documents them, this page does not list them.

What the demo update changed (16 June 2026)

MAETH said the first two levels are “by design … the easiest levels”, but agreed the demo “felt a bit too easy”. The update:

  • made Martyr “a significant challenge even in the early game”;
  • made Normal tougher;
  • raised the Gravity Shield’s adrenaline drain;
  • cut the stims from enemies killed with an ability from 3 to 1.

Choosing

Under The Mayo’s advice is to pick “a difficulty that’s appropriately challenging for your skill level”. Movement is heavy, and “if you just go running into battle, you’ll get melted”. Things that bite harder on Martyr:

  • Enemy shotguns. A feedback thread says a glancing shotgun hit at low health is fatal.
  • Adusta Terra’s last wave. Shielded hammer-wielders kill “instantly” on Martyr. See the levels page for the tip players shared.
  • Checkpoints. Players have asked for checkpoints that save progress without saving your low health.

Difficulty and length

About 5 hours on normal and 10 on Martyr, per two Steam forum players. See how long to beat. After the campaign, Reliquary modifiers such as Spartan (double enemy health) raise the difficulty further.
