How the squads fight
MAETH's enemy AI dev diary (10 July 2026) says squads first look for cover. If you hang back, they flank by moving to other firing positions and throw grenades to force you out. A "Tactics Path" system caps how many enemies can take one route, so they spread out on their own. Squads call out what they are doing ("I'm going to flank him"), and the director says they had to set the AI to easy for the trailer because it kept ruining shots.
The counter is the squad captain. Killing him reveals his whole squad through walls, and he tends to carry the better gun. Reviewers add one habit: raise the Gravity Shield only when enemies flash red before firing, not whenever you get hit.

Bosses
The developers said before launch there would be few bosses "in the traditional videogame-ey sense", with mini-bosses that later turn up as regular enemies, and that every boss has at least one counter among your abilities. Zhain Gaming's all-bosses video lists four:
| Boss | Where | What is known | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Seraph | Buried (the helicopter) | Optional to kill; 'Seraph Down' (2.5%) is the achievement. Gravity Shield reflect is the tool, and in the full game you only get the shield in the next level, so it takes other means in a first run. | Steam achievements; developer reply |
| Colossus | Not stated | One section strips your weapons and abilities while a Colossus hunts you, 'Nemesis style'. | Flexin85 review; boss video chapters |
| Tsuchigumo Multi-Ped Tank | Not stated | A multi-legged tank; the third boss in the order of Zhain Gaming's all-bosses video. | Zhain Gaming, 'All Bosses + Ending' (7 Sep 2026) |
| Silas | Amet (final) | Leader of the Imago Dei and the final boss. Players single out a boulder throw, a laser that slices the ground and a grab. The hidden achievement 'Boulder Punch Finale' is named after the fight. | Steam forum 'Final Boss' thread; achievements |
Strategies players have posted are in the boss guide.
Allies
- Junta forces: You often walk into fights between friendly Junta troops and rebels.
- Spider tank: A friendly Junta mech that fights alongside you for one set piece.
- Archons: Allies in God's Light; keeping all three alive earns 'Mercy' (4.4%).
MAETH's AI uses a "behaviour stack" that applies to allies too. If you save allies who were scripted to die, they may follow you into the next fight.
