SPRAWL zero Demo: What Is in It and How It Differs
What is in it
MAETH’s demo announcement (9 June 2026): “we’ve included the first two levels: The Graveyard and Buried!” You fight the Imago Dei in the streets of the Sprawl with “a wide variety of weapons and abilities available … right out of the gate”. It is on Steam as a separate free app, “SPRAWL zero Demo”. By the 11 August release date announcement, MAETH said it had earned an Overwhelmingly Positive rating.
How it differs from the full game
- The Gravity Shield comes early. A developer explained that the demo “includes the shield powerup early. In the full game you don’t have the shield for Buried. You get it in the following level.” That is why demo players could kill the Seraph gunship by reflecting its fire while the dialogue told them to run.
- It was a development build. MAETH said it ran “about 20% less performant than a final shipping build”, with logs and a dev console for bug reports.
- The full game is harder. Martyr and Normal were retuned after demo feedback.
The Next Fest update (16 June 2026)
- A reworked mantling system.
- Harder Martyr and Normal difficulties.
- Performance gains, “up to 90 FPS in some cases”.
- A new weapon, the Vox Dei Imago Dei minigun, added to gold crates.
- Weapon re-tiering (the Vulcan became Blue rarity), and grabbed fireballs and Impaler shots now electrify.
- Clearer objective markers (Alt brings the marker back) and better mission briefings.
- Coyote time; tutorial Dregs no longer throw grenades; Sightless Sisters drop their sickles.
Console demos
People search for “sprawl zero demo ps5” and “demo xbox”, but MAETH’s announcements only describe the Steam demo. We could not confirm a console demo; check your platform’s store. See platforms.
Does demo progress carry over?
MAETH has not said. Since the demo covers only levels 1 and 2 and the full game changes the Shield timing, plan to replay them.
